The winner of the 2019 World’s Challenge Challenge Global Final is SheCycle, an initiative to introduce a unique antimicrobial reusable sanitary pad that can be locally sourced and distributed in Uganda, helping improve health, access to education and work for local women. The University of Waterloo team, Leah Wouda, Anna Kuepfer, and Abby Loewen, will receive $30,000 to help further develop the proposed solution and support implementation. University of Auckland's Loyal Trees and University at Buffalo’s Numu have earned Silver and Bronze respectively. Congratulations to our 2018 Gold, Silver and Bronze Medalists!
Western University is inviting some of the world's best universities to compete in the World's Challenge Challenge in 2019/2020.
Students from participating partner universities will form diverse teams of two to four students to bring ideas forward to address a global issue and then present their unique solution to a panel of academic and community leaders at their own institution. The top team from each World's Challenge Challenge partner will win a trip to London, Canada, to compete in the Global Final in June 2020.
Finalists will have an opportunity to network with some of the best and brightest students from around the world, participate in academic events, generate further discussion around global issues, and experience a taste of Canadian hospitality.
