Parking Changes Effective May 1, 2018

Gated Permit Lots

Althouse Staff
  • Green student permits can access this lot from May 1st through August 31st, along with Grey and Orange Permits
South Valley
  • Grey and Orange Permits only can access this lot at any time
  • Green Permits can access after 4 pm, Monday to Friday, as well as on weekends (must vacate by 7 am on Monday)
  • this lot will also experience construction over the summer please see below for details
Springett Staff
  • Green Student Permits can access this lot from May 1st through August 31st along with Grey and Orange Permits
  • May 1st through August 31st - this lot also offers visitor parking - pull a ticket to access and pay with credit card on exit

Attended Lots

Alumni Thompson
  • Daily rate maximum moves to $18
  • No Green, Grey or Orange Permits allowed until attendant leaves at 7 pm
  • This lot is attended 7 am - 7 pm, Monday - Friday
  • After 7 pm the gate is raised for free parking through 7 am
Kent Lot
  • FKSMC Patients – daily maximum rate change to $8
  • This lot is attended 7 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday for FKSMC Patients only
  • After 5 pm it becomes a permit lot only (orange and grey permits) until 7 am

Medical Science
  • Dental Clinic Patients – daily maximum rate change to $8
  • This lot is attended 7 am - 4 pm, Monday - Friday
  • After 4 pm it becomes ticket dispenser enabled until 7 am (pay by credit card)
Social Science
  • Daily rate maximum moves to $18
  • This lot is attended 8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday
  • At 5 pm it becomes ticket dispenser enabled until 7 am (pay by credit card)
Weldon
  • Daily rate maximum moves to $18
  • This lot is attended 8 am -  4 pm, Monday - Friday
  • At 4 pm it becomes ticket dispenser enabled until 7 am (pay by credit card)
  • This lot is being reconfigured to accommodate safer traffic flow - as a result, access to the loading area will be restricted - see below for details

 

Pay-By-Credit-Card at Unattended Gated Lots

In addition to our usual pay-as-you-go spaces (Pay and Display areas, single space meter areas and Honk Mobile areas) a few of our gated, unattended lots will allow visitors  to pull a ticket to access the lot and pay with credit card to exit. These lots are:

  • Althouse Staff Lot
  • Springett Staff Lot
  • Talbot Lot


Pay by credit card is enabled at these lots, 24 hours a day from  May 1 through August 31st.

Other Lot Changes of Note

Upper Heating

  • Beginning June 1, 2018, the Upper Heating lot will be designated for reserved permit holders only
  • Non-reserved permit holders who typically park in this lot are asked to move to the next available lot for core-non reserved (orange) permits

Summer Complimentary Parking

There is no free parking on campus during the day time business hours. After hours and on weekends, there are options for free parking on campus.


Free parking from 4 pm - 7 am Monday - Friday and on weekends until Monday at 7 am:

  • Elborn Lot
  • Support Services Building Lot (at the back)


Free parking from 7 pm - 7 am Monday - Friday and on weekends until Monday at 7 am:

  • Siebens Drake Lot
  • Upper Heating Lot
  • Visual Arts Lot


Free parking on weekends until Monday at 7 am:

  • Althouse Student Lot
  • Springett Student and Springett Staff Lots
  • Medway Lot (behind Elgin Hall Residence)
  • Huron Flats Lot



Complimentary parking does not include reserved spaces or single space and multi-spaced areas.

Parking Lot Construction Projects - Summer 2018

Over the summer, a number of parking lots on campus will undergo various repairs and upgrades.

Parking & Visitor Services is requesting that you please review the below information as many of our customers will be impacted by these construction projects.

We ask for your patience and cooperation while these projects are being completed.

What areas are affected and what will be happening?

Alumni Thompson Visitor Lot:

  • lot closed to vehicle traffic August 13-14th
  • road work

South Valley Parking Lot:

      • 135 additional spaces are being added
      • second entrance and exit gate will be added
      • resurfacing of the lot

Chemistry Parking Lot:

      • the gate will be moved further into the lot - this will help alleviate some of the traffic congestion until a permanent solution can be put in place

Weldon Parking Lot:

      • reconfiguration of Pay and Display area
      • reconfiguration of the visitor gated lot area

Westminster Parking Lot:

    • the parking gates will be removed

When is this happening?

Alumni Thompson Visitor Lot - August 13th through Friday August 17th

South Valley Lot - this project is in progess with an expected end date of mid-August

Chemistry Parking Lot - this project is in progress

Weldon Visitor Lot - this project is complete

Westminster Lot - this project is complete


Details for all projects are currently being finalized with the Facilities Development & Engineering project team and will be updated here as soon they are availalable.

What does it mean for users of these lots?

Visitors to the Alumni Thompson lot can expect:

  • lot closure August 13-17th

Permit holders using the South Valley lot can expect:

  • lane restrictions
  • intermittent cosure of the main entrance gates (back entrance will be available during these times)
  • Reserved parkers may be impacted by the resurfacing however plenty of space will still be available in the South Valley lot during the construction period

Permit holders using the Chemistry lot can expect:

  • lane restrictions

Permit holders using the Westminster lot can expect:

  • this lot will become an ungated lot
  • permit only parking during the day
  • stay tuned for information on the implementation of license plate recognition (LPR) technology

Where are alternative parking lots?

  • Grey permit holders can park in any grey designated lot
  • Orange permit holders can park in any orange designated lot
  • Reserved permit holders should not be impacted (other than by the resurfacing in South Valley) but can park in a non-reserved spot for the short period of time that access to their reserved space may be affected
