Jeffrey O. Segrave delivers 2018 Earle F. Zeigler Memorial Lecture

Professor Jeffrey O. Segrave, David H. Porter Professor at Skidmore College, has delivered the 2018 Earle F. Zeigler Memorial Lecture. In a lecture entitled, "Victorian Seriality and the Modern Olympic Games," Professor Segrave investigated the modalities of serialization characteristic of sporting and Olympic narratives during the late 19th century.

His main area of scholarly interest lies in the socio-cultural analysis of sport; he embraces an interdisciplinary approach that seeks to study sport at the intersections of history, sociology, and literature. His current areas of scholarly interest are the Olympics Games, sport in cartoons, and tennis in American literature.
