Secure FTP & Websites

When connecting to a Communications webserver to upload/download site content, you must use sFTP (instead of insecure "basic" FTP).

A simple configuration change in your web authoring software will improve security without any impact on how your sites are developed and maintained.

In Dreamweaver 8, this is as simple as checking a box in the Site -> Manage Sites ... dialog:

Dreamweaver 8 sFTP Checkbox

Other versions of Dreamweaver and other web authoring tools have a similar setting. To find out how to make the change in another version/program, search for "sftp" in the product's online help.

Doc roots -> /web/ -> /web/ -> /web/
