Winter Term 2021 Mobility/Travel Update

Due to the COVID-19 situation and global travel restrictions, Western has made the difficult decision to extend the suspension of all outbound international university-sanctioned student travel and inbound exchange programs for the Winter 2021 term (until April 30, 2021).

Despite the ongoing suspension of our programming, we are committed to working with the campus community to adjust to special circumstances and exceptional cases.

The inherent value and nature of exchange programs is to foster global perspectives and enhance personal and intellectual development through experiencing different cultures and communities, and building intercultural skills and self-confidence while travelling and living abroad.

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to present unique challenges nationally and internationally as students are anxious about making travel arrangements and related financial commitments. As such, in these unusual and uncertain circumstances, we hope that in making this difficult decision students will have sufficient time to plan for a continued course of study at their home university.

We recognize that this is a difficult time and this may be disappointing news. Our top priority is the safety, health and wellbeing of our university community.
