International Learning staff and partner universities will guide you through the process before you go, during your exchange and on your way home.

How It Works

Partner universities with reciprocal agreements exchange students with one another and these students pay tuition to their home institution instead of international fees. Because each university has a limited number of spaces, students must apply to go on an exchange. Western International Learning receives and reviews applications and offers placements to successful applicants. Students usually apply for an exchange program in their second year and go in their third year.

Who is Eligible to Go On Exchange?

Please note that applying to go on exchange does not guarantee a space. The exchange program is competitive; spaces are limited and subject to availability.

Eligibility is based on academic achievement in first and second year and your suitability as an ambassador for Western. Normally, successful applicants have an average of 70% or above and are in good academic standing. Students are evaluated based on their application, letters of reference and transcript. Failure to maintain a 70% average may result in the cancellation of your exchange.

Where You Can Go:

Our Partner Universities are listed in Atlas, Western's international experience portal. Search opportunities by country, institution, language of instruction, and more.
