Program and Year of Study: 4th year, Genetics.
Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. My brother started at Western a year before me and joined WFP. He suggested it to me because he made some really close friends volunteering here and actually ended up living with one of them for a while. Foot Patrol does a lot to help keep campus safe, but it's also a really fun and social experience.
Q. If you didn't have to sleep, what would you do with your extra time?
A. I spend a lot of time sleeping so this would be game changer! I would probably try and get all my schoolwork done overnight because I work well at night and everyone else would be asleep so there wouldn't be as many distractions to help me procrastinate. That would also let me continue my habit of watching mass amounts of Netflix after class every day.
Q. What is your biggest accomplishment?
A. I think I'm most proud of my fourth year thesis project. I've invested a ton of time and energy at the lab the past few months and it's really paying off. I've learned so many skills that will be useful throughout my future career, and I've also gotten to know and work with some truly amazing people.

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I joined Western Foot Patrol in my first year to gain some volunteer experience and also meet new people! I love the idea of campus having a safe escort system in place to ensure the safety of its students and the fact that I'm a part of such a great organization. It has been nothing but a LITTTT experience!
Q. If you could win an Olympic medal for any sport, real or fake, what would it be?
A. Well... I consider procrastination to be an extreme sport that I engage in... so if I could win a medal in procrastination, well... I'd probably just compete in it later! Why? I'd eventually start training for it someday!
Q. What is your go-to karaoke song?
A. Fun fact: I've never been to karaoke, but I'm huge on acapella... aka, singing in the shower!

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. Well I remember I was first walking around with one of my friends during the first week or so of school and saw Foot Patrol. I asked him if he wanted to join with me and here we are now! As a Foot Patrol member I have achieved my dream of being a student by day and a hero by night.
Q. Where’s the next place on your travel bucket list?
A. Definitely Rome/Italy and Greece! I went before when I was a lot younger but I really didn't care about the history of anything and all I wanted to do was play Pokemon on my DS the entire time and not look at anything around me. After taking some classics courses I feel like it would be super cool to check out all these places that I've learned about!
Q. If you had to describe yourself as an animal, which one would it be?
A. That's a tough question... I really have no clue. Some of my friends say that I'm like a clownfish. I've been told I'm a natural clown and love to goof around a lot. Plus I do love Finding Nemo!

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I love walking. I am the friend who makes her friends walk across town because she doesn’t want to chip in $5 for Uber.
Q. What’s the first career you dreamed of having as a kid?
A. Surgeon; I’ve always liked saving lives and the operating room excites me. I even became more interested in surgery after dissecting animals in school.
Q. If you could live in any period of history when would it be??
A. I’d rather never go back in history as I like the world the way it is better right now. History has been very unfair to women and I don’t think I can exist without internet anymore. 2019 is not great, but it is better than the historical periods that I am aware of.

A. I initially joined Foot Patrol because it was very highly recommended by someone I had met during O-Week, and it seemed like something I would really enjoy!
Q. You have to sing karaoke, what song do you pick?
A. Jessie’s Girl by Rick Springfield because it’s a literal masterpiece.
Q. If you had to delete all but 3 apps from your smartphone, which ones would you keep?
A. I would definitely keep Snapchat, Spotify, and the messages app. I wouldn’t survive the horrible Western road traffic without Cardi B.

A. I joined Foot Patrol in first year because I thought it would be a great way to meet new people while getting some exercise. I ended up joining with one of my friends, and have loved patrolling ever since.
Q. If you were an ice cream flavour which would you be?
A. I would be hazelnut because it’s the best flavour.
Q. If you had to switch lives with a celebrity, who would you choose?
A. I would switch lives with Will Smith because his life seems really fun, and I think it would be hilarious if he had my body with his type of personality. My friends would definitely notice…

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. It was a spur of the moment decision. I was walking around UCC during the volunteer fair earlier this year, when a buddy of mine said “Yo, Gagan, join Foot Patrol, it’s lit”, and so I did. It is pretty lit, although I could do without London’s freezing winter weather...oh well.
Q. If you could be a superhero, who would you choose?
A. Ah. I’ve never really been big on superheroes, not even as a kid.... how about Heracles? I know he’s not a conventional comic book superhero, but he’s pretty cool. He gets the job done, you know? Monsters, quests, the Underworld, nothing is a match for this guy! Also, he gets to become a God instead of dying, so that’s a plus. Heck, I’d wager this man could beat Superman in a 1v1! Then again, I know next to nothing about Superman...
Q. What game show would you be really good at and potentially have a shot at winning?
A. Game show? Hmmm...I don’t really watch those either. I’m pretty sure there’s one called Family Feud, which involves you and your family answering questions. Yeah, I’m pretty sure I could wipe the floor with that. I’m not particularly trivia-savvy, but my dad is. I’m hoping I could just sit back and have him win us the cash prize.

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I joined Foot Patrol back in my 2nd year so that I could make an impactful mark on the Western community and to meet lots of lovely fellow students! Definitely do not regret my decision to join.
Q. If you had to eat at one restaurant for the rest of your life, which would you choose?
A. If I could only eat at one restaurant for the rest of my life I would probably have to choose Six Thirty Nine in Woodstock because their food is all ethically sourced from local vendors within a 100km radius.
Q. If you could create one holiday, what would you make?
A. If I could create one holiday it would have to be a national nap day because who doesn't love a good nap?

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I joined Foot Patrol because I thought it was a great way for me to meet new people. Moreover, I think it is very important for students to feel safe walking around campus and if we do not look out for one another then who will? It is also a great way for me to give back to the community that provides me with so many awesome opportunities.
Q. If you could live anywhere on or outside of this planet, where would you live?
A. I would keep looking until I find a place that feeds my ambitions. I like travelling and I like trying out new things. I do not think I can stay at the same place for too long!
Q. If you could be immortal, would you?
A. I would not want to be immortal. I think life is all about growing older with the people we love and experiencing all the incredible things that this planet has to offer us. Also, if we could live forever we would start taking things for granted and not try to live our everyday lives to the fullest!

A. I joined Foot Patrol to meet the great people such as the ones I have met.
Q. If you had to pick one job to do for the rest of your life (with enough money guaranteed for comfortable living) what would you pick?
A. I would want to be a professional food critic so I could fly around the world tasting and judging different foods from a variety of cultures.
Q. If you had to pick a TV show to represent your life, which would it be?
A. I would pick FRIENDS due to my love for the show and because it showcases all the ups and downs of regular people going through their daily lives but also because the portrayal of all the events is very positive.

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I joined Foot Patrol because it’s my way to get weekly exercise. You can usually tell which day my shift is on by looking for the 400% increase in steps.
Q. If you wrote an autobiography, what would it be called?
A. My autobiography would probably be called “The Subtle Art of Procrastination.” (The book would probably end halfway because I procrastinated too much and never ended up finishing it before the deadline).
Q. If you had to choose between flying or teleporting, which would you choose?
A. Between teleportation and flying, I would have to pick flying. There are so many things that can go wrong with teleportation (i.e. What happens if you end up teleporting to the bottom of a lake or into a wall). If you can fly, you can easily get some nice drone footage or bird’s eye view shots just with your phone. Do you know how expensive drones are?!

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. When I joined a few years ago, I was really just looking for an opportunity to meet new people and contribute to campus in a meaningful way. I ended up continuing to volunteer as long as I have because I've met so many awesome people through Foot Patrol. I wish I started volunteering earlier!
Q. If you had to switch lives with someone, who would it be?
A. To be honest, I'm pretty content with my own life. If I had to choose, I would say I would switch lives with Jeff Bezos. I would completely re-organize Amazon into a social enterprise and donate all of my own personal wealth to a global poverty reduction effort.
Q. If you were to be famous for anything, what would you be famous for?
A. I think what I would want to be famous for is scholarship or research related to education, sort of like how John A. Van de Walle and Marian Small are such big names in Mathematics Education. Teaching is my passion, and even though I hope to be in a classroom for as long as I can, I think I would also find fulfillment in helping other educators further develop their own pedagogy.

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I joined Foot Patrol to get to know campus better and to ensure the safety of its students. I was also really excited about meeting different people that I wouldn’t have otherwise met in any of my classes.
Q. What fictional place or world would you like to visit?
A. Without a doubt, if I had the option to visit any fictional place I’d want to go to the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin. No one pulls off pranks like Jim and no one makes me laugh more than Dwight.
Q. If you had your own late night show, who would be you first guest?
A. If I had a late night show the first people I would have as my guests would be the entire cast of The Office. I think it’s a reunion we all deserve and getting them to act out a quick skit would be something to help students get through all of their exams and assignments.

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. For this year, I made it a goal to get more involved on-campus. I had heard of Foot Patrol back in first year, and it really looked interesting to me. Also, when I was in high school, I did a lot of volunteer work during my spare time, and I haven't been as involved since coming to university. So far, it's been awesome being a Foot Patroller and meeting new people!
Q. If you were a flavour, what would you be?
A. A bit simple, but chocolate because it's my favourite!
O. If you could bring back any extinct animal, what what would you choose?
A. I would bring back the woolly mammoth because they looked cool and cuddly (even though I probably wouldn't cuddle with one).

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I first heard about Foot Patrol during one of the campus tours I had before I came to Western and I thought it was a really neat concept to help the community and meet new people. After hearing more about it during O-Week and in Rez I decided to give it a try and joined last September! I also wanted to in a way like give back to others by helping provide a safe way home for whatever reason they might need.
Q. If you could have dinner with one person from history, who would it be?
A. One of my favourite movies of all time is Schindler's List which is based off the true story of Oskar Schindler, a German member of the Nazi Party, who risked his life during the Holocaust to save over 1000 Jewish workers. His courage, generosity and humanity motivated him to protect human lives amidst the horrors of World War II, regardless of their background, religion or differences, which I feel is such a relevant message to our current society. He is a true hero whom I respect and so I would want to get to know him and share his story.
Q. If you were a kitchen appliance, what would you be?
A. I've genuinely never been asked this before and I really don't know how to answer this so I'm just going to go with a stove cause they litt.

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. (O) I wanted to be more actively involved in the student community, and Foot Patrol is a great way to do that. (J) I thought it would be a great experience and a new way to meet amazing people.
Q. If you were given $1 million today, what would you spend it on?
A. (O) I'd probably put half of it into investing, I'd donate 1/4 of it to charitable contributions (specifically medial aid efforts), and I'd spend the last 1/4 on family and vactions - Fiji, here I come ;). (J) I would use it to buy real estate, because land rarely depreciates.
Q. What is the themesong for your life?
A. (O) This is a hard one, cause there are so many good ones to choose from... at the moment I'd probably say the Jessica Jones themesong. It's an instrumental piece that has elements of noir that builds to heavy percussion and a rock section (with a statement guitar solo, of course). It's the best of both worlds: classy and rebellious. (J) "Billionaire" by Travie McCoy and Bruno Mars; I want to be a billionaire.

A. I joined Foot Patrol to give back to the Western community and meet people outside of my faculty and friend group.
Q. If you were invisible for a day, what would you do?
A. If I were invisible for the day I would play pranks on all of my housemates. I would do this to see how badly I can scare them!
Q. In your opinion, what is the greatest invention of all time?
A. I think the greatest invention of all time is the microwave. It's a kitchen appliance that I use so regularly, I have no clue how I would live without it!

Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I joined Foot Patrol because I wanted to break out of my shell. This was back in first year when I was overwhelmed by being far away from home for the first time. I’m so glad I took that first step because I’ve met so many people through Western Foot Patrol since then, and I’ve been able to work my way up to a leadership role, which is something my first-year self would have never imagined.
Q. If you could time travel, where would you go?
A. I would go back to the 70s because that’s when my parents were born. I think it would be really cool to be able to see how different things were when they were growing up. Also, I’d like to experience not having access to all the modern technology that has been invented since then.
Q. If you could be an Olympic athlete, which sport would you compete in?
A. I would compete in rhythmic gymnastics because that would mean that imaginary-Olympic-athlete-me would have some sort of hand-eye coordination and the ability to be graceful!

A. I wanted to increase my involvement with the university and meet new people while promoting a safe campus at Western. And Foot Patrol checked off all those boxes!
Q. If you could eat any one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Why?
A. AVOCADOS! I love them! They are super versatile, and an amazing source of healthy fats! Oh, and who doesn’t love avocado toast?
Q. Which celebrity would you want to play you in a movie about your life? Why?
A. Definitely Ryan Reynolds. The primary reason is he is Canadian, so, I assume, we already share similar ways of life and values. Overall, he just seems like a super nice, chill dude that would portray my life very well!

A: I initially joined Foot Patrol in second year to get volunteer experience that would fit into my busy academic schedule.
Q: What’s a cool place/thing you’ve discovered while patrolling on campus?
A: My favourite thing that I’ve seen while patrolling campus has been deer. I’m a huge animal lover and no matter how many times I see deer on campus I’m totally awestruck. The first time I saw them I couldn’t believe they would hang out in the middle of a city like London with all these people around, but evidently, they do!
Q: What would be your dream vacation?
A: This is a tough question. Right now, I’d have to say exploring the deserts, cities, and historical sites in Egypt with my best friends.

Q: Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A: I joined Western Foot Patrol because I liked the idea of advocating for a safer campus through volunteering while being able to walk/drive with new people each week. I also plan on applying to the OPP this Fall and figured this would be a great opportunity to interact with individuals from all walks of life.
Q: What’s a cool place/thing you’ve discovered while patrolling on campus?
A: This past year I became an SUV Driver which expanded our boundaries, and up until this point I had no idea that Windemere Manor even existed! As a side note: It is a surprisingly beautiful, old, and bustling venue overlooking parts of Western Campus.
Q: If you could live in a book, TV show, or movie, what would it be?
A: I would live in the magical world of Harry Potter (particularly in the 4th book: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire). Why? So I could revel in the Dursley's shock as their fireplace is torn apart by the Weasley's awkward arrival by Floo powder. Also Hogwarts.

Q: Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A: I didn’t choose Foot Patrol; Foot Patrol chose me…I heard about it during orientation week and saw it again at the club fair, and it kind of just wiggled its way into my life.
Q: What would be your dream vacation?
A: Most definitely travel to Peru and view the many ancient ruins that are home to the country, including Machu Picchu of course, and Sacsayhuaman, learning all about the history of the place.
Q: If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning a medal for?
A: The sad but honest truth, laughing at my own jokes is an unshakable habit! I would fare quite well in this activity if it were an Olympic sport!

Q. Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I joined Foot Patrol in my second year at Western because the volunteer position encompassed three things that I enjoy, socialization, physical activity and the outdoors.
Q. What would be your dream vacation?
A. I would love to travel to Australia. However, I’m game to go anywhere with sunshine, warm weather, and a sandy beach on the ocean. Life is just better in flip-flops.
Q. If you could live in a book, TV show, or movie, what would it be?
A. I definitely want to live in the show F.R.I.E.N.D.S—who wouldn’t want to hangout in Central Perk with Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Phoebe and Joey? The characters are just so relatable and Chandler Bing is basically the definition of my humor.

Q. Why did you join Foot Patrol?
A. I joined Foot Patrol when I was in first year because I thought it would be a great way to get to know campus a bit better. I also wanted to meet other students and give back to the community. I started as a Volunteer Patroller but I am now an Operations Manager.
Q. What’s a cool place/thing you’ve discovered while patrolling on campus?
A. There's a cool statue in between Brescia and Huron that I didn't know existed until I joined Foot Patrol. In fact, it's a Foot Patrol tradition to be shown this statue on your first shift!
Q. What is best food you’ve ever eaten?
A. My mother's side is Polish and my aunt makes really delicious Babka!

A. I am a 2nd year MOS student from Vancouver, BC. I enjoy cooking, fitness, and I am a connoisseur of memes.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. This is my 2nd year in Foot Patrol. I joined Foot Patrol during my first year in order to help out the community and learn how to get around campus. So far it has been a great experience and I am looking forward to two more years!
Q. If you could have any superpower, what power would it be and why?
A. I would want to teleport for sure. To be honest, I just want to travel to places and get around for free.
Q. What is your favourite meal to cook?
A. I know how to cook one dish and one dish only. It's been 3 months and I'm still not sick of it so I guess it tastes alright.
Q. If you could only watch one TV show for the rest of your life what TV show would it be and why?
A. I would want How I Met Your Mother to run forever. I loved that show and finished it too quickly.

Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. Hi! My name is Kelcie. I am in my third year of undergrad studying Biology with a minor in Pharmacology. My future plans are to travel overseas to go to med school since I love to travel and it has always been a dream of mine to become a physician (so I figure 2 birds with 1 stone). I also work on campus at London Hall so I basically live on campus. Outside of campus life; I am obsessed with my dog Berkley, I love chocolate, going to the movies and relaxing by the pool in the summer.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. This is currently my third year volunteering with foot patrol. I signed up in first year, have become an SUV driver and am now an OA.
Q. What would you do if you won the lottery?
A. If I was ever so lucky to win the lottery I would first pay off the rest of my schooling, but after that I would probably buy myself a car, travel and give my parents a much deserved trip to Europe (since they’ve always wanted to go).
Q. When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A. Every year I wanted to be something different; the ones I can remember are a policeman, a chef, a vet and of course a doctor.
Q. If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would you go and why?
A. Definitely the UK/Scotland; I love the quaintness and beauty of the villages along the ocean, plus my mom’s family ancestry has a castle there that I’d love to visit.

Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. Hi, my name is Alex! I am in my third year at Western studying business at Ivey. I grew up in Vancouver but was born in China before immigrating to Canada at the age of three. I enjoy following most sports but my favourite team is the Golden State Warriors.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. I am currently in my third year at Western Foot Patrol. I started volunteering as a patroller, moved up to an OA last January, and am currently lucky enough to be an OM.
Q. If you were ruler of your own country what would be the first law you would introduce?
A. The first law I would make is to mandate every citizen to at least get a high school level education. I believe that education is incredibly important in helping gain an understanding of themselves maximizing their potentials.
Q. What is your favourite type of food?
A. My favourite type of food is Chinese, specifically sweet and sour chicken or lemon chicken.
Q. If you were a super-hero, what powers would you have?
A. If I was a superhero, I would have the power to stop time because it feels like there is never enough time to take a good nap.

Q. Tell us about yourself
A. Well I am a tall blonde boy studying what I love (Food and Nutrition!) in my 3rd year at Western. I was born and raised in London, as were my parents, and I have an even taller brother named Mike who graduated from Western 2 years ago. Since high school, many people have nicknamed me “Dad” probably because I like giving advice, and being the calm and kind person in the room when something is going wrong. In my spare time I love to cook and dance in my kitchen with my golden retriever Jackson, and live an active lifestyle either rock climbing, running, playing basketball, I’ll try anything! I am so happy when I’m outdoors, so in the summers I have always gotten out of the city and been a camp counsellor, lead canoe trips, and most recently tree planting.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. I have volunteered with Foot Patrol since January of 2015. I thought as a first year living off-campus that Foot Patrol would be a great way to meet people, and learn ins and outs of campus (which I’m still figuring out 2 years later). I’ve made some really close friends at Foot Patrol and love the break in my weekly schedule to just walk around campus and catch up with a friend, it really keeps me happy.
Q. What is your favourite holiday and why?
A. I have to go with the classic Christmas holiday. It’s that first big break of the school year, Santa is always so generous, and the New Year and my birthday are just around the corner… It’s a great time of year.
Q. What is your favourite TV series?
A. Growing up it was That 70’s Show, every day after school. Now I would say it’s The Office, I’ve been through all 8 seasons twice, and it still makes me laugh out loud every time.
Q. What was the last book you read and what did you think about it?
A. The last book I read was Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. The book is about the 1996 Everest disaster, which was the most deadly season on Everest ever (the 2015 film Everest was based on this book). I would recommend anyone read this book I really enjoyed it. Kind of made me want to try Everest one day… I mean I’m pretty well trained from Foot Patrol right?

A. First off, My name is Rachel and I’m a 5th year Chemistry student currently playing on the Western Ringette Team. 12/10 times you will find me with a smile on my face and coffee in hand. My friends often refer to me as an electron because I’m easily excited (sorry, had to insert one terrible chem joke). I love action packed movies, playing guitar, going kayaking and travelling. Breakfast food is the key to my heart and orchids make me happy. I live by the saying “Don’t sweat the small stuff; it’s all small stuff”.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. Foot Patrol and I just had our 3 year anniversary. No wedding bells in the near future though.
Q. What is your favourite animal and why?
A. Otters. There is never a time they won’t make you smile.
Q. If you could have any job, what would it be and why?
A. Food critic. I think I’d make a great Guy Fieri, minus the frosted tips.
Q. If you could eat lunch with one famous person, who would it be?
A. The Queen, and more so because I’d like to see inside Buckingham Palace. If she’s busy, I’d gladly sit down with the reincarnated Lord Rayleigh as his theories are the basis for my undergraduate thesis and I have a lot of questions for him.

A. My name is Mat (Yes, with 1 “T”). I recently graduated from King’s with an Honors Specialization in Criminology, and I am currently working towards a post-graduate certificate in Computer Security & Digital Forensics at Ryerson University. Outside of school and work, I enjoy long distance running, playing the piano, and have recently developed an addiction to cross-fit.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. This is my fifth year volunteering at Foot Patrol, and it has been a pretty interesting and enjoyable five years, to say the least. I have held every position at Foot Patrol, ranging from walking, SUV driver, Operations Assistant, all the way to my current position as Operations Manager.
Q. Which three songs would you listen to for the rest of your life, if you had to pick?
A. If I have to choose three songs, they we be: Animal by Def Leppard, Fifteen by Taylor Swift, and last but not least, The Kill by Thirty Seconds to Mars.
Q. What one skill do you wish you could master and why?
A. I wish I had the capacity to absorb foreign languages. I think that it would be awesome to be able to communicate and identify with others on the same wavelength, in a native language they feel comfortable speaking in. Not to mention, it would make traveling a little easier.
Q. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do?
A. If I won the lottery, the first thing on my list would be to give my parents an early retirement.

A. My name is Kia and I am currently in the first year of my Masters in Physiology and Pharmacology. I've been at Western for 5 years now, as I did my undergrad in Physiology here as well. I am of First Nations background, I am of the turtle clan belonging to Caldwell First Nation.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. This is my 5th year volunteering for Foot Patrol, and I have loved every year! I have also had the same partner for my 5 years with foot patrol, David Immucci (see his profile farther down!). We became best friends through Foot Patrol, actually.
Q. What’s your perfect job?
A. My perfect job would be what I'm aiming towards doing. I want to finish my Master's here at Western and apply to Medical School. After medical school I want to open my own family medicine practice, which includes a help center for first nations women that focuses on prenatal care.
Q. Where would you love to live and why?
A. I would love to live in northern Canada. I love outdoor sports such as hiking, fishing, canoeing, etc. I love the northern forestry and lakes, I would never be bored living there and I also find the air a lot more fresh. I would also love to live in a smaller town because I like the slow paced, friendly feel.
Q. If you were a millionaire for a day, what would you do?
A. If I were a millionaire for a day, I would advance book myself trips over the nest few years to travel. I would book long weekend camping excursions, or road trips to places around Ontario. I would advance book a backpacking trip to Europe as well as South East Asia. I've always wanted to travel to different countries, but am limited by the cost.

A. I am in second year Medical Sciences and working hard to have the opportunity to go to medical school after my undergrad (or after a Master’s degree, haven’t decided yet)! I am from a small town outside of Guelph. I have a younger brother who goes to Georgian College and my parents live at home with our poodle Lucas. My family is my biggest support and I always look forward to being together at the holidays and during summer.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. I started volunteering as a patroller just after Christmas during my first year, and next semester I’m excited to be starting as an Operation’s Assistant.
Q. If you had to describe yourself in five words, what would they be?
A. I would say I am energetic, hardworking, studious, and athletic. And I’d love to say I am social but by social I mean I genuinely enjoy striking up conversations with new people and I like being around others.
Q. What’s on your bucket list?
A. I really want to see every continent! Traveling is something I really enjoy. I also want to own a horse, but I would have it boarded at another location near my home. I also don’t think I could let myself go to my grave without trying bungee jumping, so that has to happen.
Q. What would you most like to learn and why?
A. I would really like to learn how to do computer programming. I’ve never learned anything like that before. I know those courses exist, but my program doesn’t leave much room to become skilled enough to attend something like Hack Western.

A. My name is Pascal Okoye an international student from Nigeria. I am currently doing a Masters in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Although I love science, though not to the point of being considered a nerd, I am actually a social bee, I just sting people out of their comfort zones. In the free time I do have, I enjoy taking part in activities that allow me to test my limits, I also enjoy playing volleyball, soccer, and most importantly following the best soccer team in the world; Manchester United.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. This is my first year volunteering for Western Foot Patrol. For the most part I have been a part of the walking team. I hope to become an Operations Assistant next year.
Q. What is your proudest accomplishment?
A. I’m not sure what my proudest accomplishment is, but I’ll have these: overcoming anxiety and being able to speak before an audience of 1,000 people is something to cherish. Learning to put myself first; learning that to have healthy relationships with other people I have to respect myself first, and keep and respect my own boundaries. Other great feats include: being featured in BEDC Lifestyles magazine as one of the most eligible bachelors.
Q. What did you want to be when you were a child?
A. I wanted to be lots of things that I didn’t indeed get to be. This changed with age. At age 9 it was "A barrister" (not a barista), paleontologist at one point. I guess watching Jurassic Park didn't really help. At the age 14, I wanted to be a Footballer... I still do. PS: still wouldn't mind rocking out on stage or playing in the World Cup!

A. My name is Anthony and I'm from a cold place called Sault Ste. Marie. I'm a 4th year Med Sci student, and will be graduating this spring. I'm excited for the next chapter of my life but heartbroken that my undergrad is coming to an end. Outside of school, I love waterskiing, pond hockey, camping, and doing pretty much anything outdoors.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. I've volunteered with foot patrol for the last 2 years, after one of my friends suggested it would be something I'd enjoy! Sure enough, I'm still here.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. My favorite part of foot patrol is listening to the stories of my patrol partner and escorts, learning about their families, friends, experiences at Western, plans for the future etc. Being in 4th year, I get to give advice to some of the younger patrollers or escorts about upper year classes and opportunities that I wasn't aware of when I first came to Western, which I really enjoy. It's always funny when people yell "FOOT PATROOOOL" out of a car window, and shift trivia can get competitive.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. Hopefully in 5 years I still won't be in school, but instead earning some cash and enjoying the sun. Oh, and I'd like to run a marathon while I still can!

A. My favourite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol is all of the new people that I have met including my patrol partner Kia, as this is our 4th year on Foot Patrol together. One of my favourite memories was handing out candy canes to students across campus during the exam period before the holidays. It was a great way to help everyone smile during the stress of exams.

I'm originally from Calgary but I've lived in 4 different countries in my life with majority of my time being spent in the Middle East. Other than travelling, I love to dance, binge watch Netflix, scream my head off on roller coasters and chow down sushi!

A. I started right after the February reading week of my first year. I'm hoping to be an OA this year and an OM next year.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. My favourite part is meeting all the different escorts and patrollers. It's amazing how many things you learn about your partner in just 3 hours walking around. One of my favourite memories has been showing all the newbies the creepy statue path from Brescia to Huron. Though in these cases I'm the only one actually scared walking down this path!
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. At this point I hope to obtain a dual degree with business and Engineering. In 5 years I hope to be working toward a new engineering inventio and paying off my bills (so basically an actual adult, which will be a bittersweet moment for sure).

A. My name is Seth and I'm a third year science student doing an Honors Specialization in Biology. Although I'm passionate about science, I have many interests outside of school, including current events and learning about foreign languages and cultures. If I'm not on campus, I'm usually studying, working, or just wasting my time online.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. Actually, I just started volunteering this year! I've been at Foot Patrol for about two months now. To be honest, I wish I had started patrolling earlier. It's such a great experience and I can't recommend it enough.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. I think the best part about volunteering with Foot Patrol is having the privilege to get to know such a wide variety of people. Everyone I've met here is awesome. Choosing a favourite memory is nearly impossible, but one night my walking partner and I had to stay 30 minutes late, and we got little bags of candy with smiley faces drawn on them as a thank you. I enjoyed that immensely.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. In an ideal world, I'd like to be teaching in a public elementary or secondary school. I'm looking into overseas teaching opportunities for the time being, so I'm not really sure where I'll end up. Honestly, everything could change in five years. I think I'd just be happy to participate in the delivery of education, no matter what my job title actually is.

A. Foot Patrol has given me the opportunity to meet some really fantastic people, all with fun and unique personalities. One night I will not forget is actually from a few weeks ago. The OM on my shift and I get along very well and we love to joke around and make each other laugh. That night we laughed so hard we were all in tears.

A. My name is Nafisa Haque (pronounced like Hawk, the bird. I have no relations with the bird whatsoever). I’m an international student from Bangladesh studying Honors Double Major Financial Economics and Consumer Behaviour. A. My favourite part about volunteering is bonding with my partners and other volunteers during shift. These strangers turned friends are what makes me look forward to my shifts. They are the real MVPs. And of course, how can I not talk about the Crème Brulee? Just tasting its sweetness at the banquet momentarily made me forget about all the cold, harsh winter nights.

A. In 5 years I see myself living somewhere exotic in a beach-front house, with a trophy husband, and Nutella, our beautiful Lab.

Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. Hi! My name is Nabeela, and I’m an international student from Bangladesh. I’m currently in my third year of Honors Specialization in Accounting in the BMOS program. I enjoy swimming, reading and drawing, and I will eat anything that has chocolate. I love cats, but somehow all of my cats just ended up dying.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. This is my second year volunteering for Western Foot Patrol. I started off as a patroller, but this year I have been promoted to an Operations Assistance and I’m now working towards becoming an Operations Manager.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. My favorite part of volunteering definitely has to be meeting all those wonderful people volunteering during my shift. Western Foot Patrol has given me the opportunity to meet people from diverse backgrounds and allowed me to make so many awesome friends. My favorite memory is when everyone on my shift sang “Happy Birthday” for me over the radio and got donuts to celebrate.

A. My name is Ricky De Sequeira. I immigrated to Newfoundland from South Africa in 1996 and moved to the GTA in 1999. I am a second year accounting student in the BMOS program. When I’m not in class or at Foot Patrol, I’m probably looking at cat videos online.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. I have been a volunteer for a little over a year. In my short time as a volunteer, I have been a Patroller, SUV Driver, Operations Assistant and I’m now in training to become an Operations Manager.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. My favourite part of being a volunteer is getting to meet lots of really cool people during my shifts. Volunteering with Foot Patrol has been an awesome experience for me and I have met many new people. If you are looking for a way to get involved within the Western community. There are many different opportunities for advancement and taking on more of a leadership role. I am really glad that I decided to volunteer during my first year at Western. One of my favourite parts of patrolling was the exploration areas on campus that I wouldn’t normally visit. Western has a huge campus and there are all sorts cool places you wouldn’t normally see on your walk to class. My favourite memory so far was last April when I was the SUV passenger. We were driving by Huron and we saw a heard of deer lying on the grass. This was only the second time I had seen deer before so I was really excited.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. I’m not actually sure. At this point I hope to go to Ivey next year and pursue a dual degree with law. In 5 years I should be finished off school and hopefully working in the real world, living on my own with cats. Did I mention I like cats?
Name: Natasha Germana
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. Aw, look how cute I am! My name is Natasha, and I am currently a third year student pursuing an Honors Specialization in Women’s Studies and a minor in Ethics (Philosophy) with a bunch of fun electives in between the two. I have a broad array of interests but some of my favourite things in life include reading fiction, throwing my body around and calling it dancing, eating an unhealthy amount of gummy candies, and laughing without restraint. Oh, and I was awarded Foot Patrol's Rookie of the Year *fist punches the air*.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. I have only been with Foot Patrol since the beginning of the school year, but I will definitely be returning in my fifth year (after spending next year on exchange, woo). My friend talked me into joining and it was probably the best decision I could have made this year.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. My favourite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol was definitely being stuck with all the weirdos that made up my shift. Volunteering would not have been the same without them and our amazing OM. Also, slaying at trivia wins out as my favourite memory.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. Agh, I have no idea. Realistically, I will probably be in school doing graduate level research or studying something completely different. I hope in five years’ time I will still have a penchant for learning and volunteering, have a ton of wild experiences behind me, and have a better understanding of who I want to be, where I want to be, and what I want to accomplish in life. I wouldn't mind being a published writer, learning another language, or having a dog, so let’s hope those all pan out.

My name is Troy Nguyen, an international student from Vietnam (For those who don’t know how to say my last name, it is pronounced pretty close to “Wayne” – May as well change my name to Thomas and name my son Bruce ^^). This is my 4th year and final year at Western. I love Martial Arts and idolize Bruce Lee (another reason to name my son Bruce lol).
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. This is my second year with Western Foot Patrol, and my biggest regret is that I didn’t start Foot Patrol in my 1st year. A shout out to people hesitating joining Foot Patrol in 1st year, please, please, please don’t hesitate no more; the earlier you join, the better, and the more fun you have!!!
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. There are so many things that I love about Western Foot Patrol. But I am surprised how much alike Western is to Hogwarts that you can discover. With my partner, I can walk around, exploring campus at night, looking for adorable creatures like the family of deer near the “Dark Forest” (Which is forbidden to walk in as Patroller, by the way), mysterious statues that everyone in Foot Patrol talks about. I must say, I love every moment of it. My favorite moment at Foot Patrol probably would be when my name was announced as the Male Patroller of the Year, at the banquet. I couldn’t believe in my ears but everyone at my table stared at me so I figured, that was probably me. Haha!

A. I will probably be working for TD Bank in 5 years, but I hope to be in London so sometimes I could casually drop in and ask for an escort/see how everyone is doing from Foot Patrol.
Name: Kayla Ferko
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. My name is Kayla Ferko, I am currently completing my second year of an honours specialization in Neuroscience with a minor in French. When I am not studying or at Foot Patrol you can find me re-watching The Mindy Project or House, playing soccer, or volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters or Dale Brain Injury Services.
Q. How long have you volunteered for Foot Patrol?
A. This is my second year with Foot Patrol and in my time here I have been a patroller, SUV passenger, OA, and now, OM!
Q. What is your favourite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol and do you have any favourite memories?
A. Volunteering with Foot Patrol is a wonderful way to get involved in the Western community. I love meeting new people from all types of backgrounds. I have made great friends on my shift, and I look forward to seeing them every week!
A couple of my favourite memories include the Casino Royale themed banquet and playing highly competitive Scattegories.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
Laughing with all my medical school friends, with our medical school backpacks, about how 5 years ago we hoped we would be in medical school.

Name: Beth Torrens
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. I am a third year Ph.D. student in Sociology. I did both my BA and my MA at Western. My favourite sport is Water Polo (no, it does not involve a horse in the pool). I also enjoy photography, reading and obviously hanging out with my fellow Mustangs at Foot Patrol!
Q. How long have you volunteered for foot Patrol?
A. lthough it seems like just yesterday, my first Foot Patrol shift was over 8 years ago (I’ve been at Western for a loooooong time!). Things were very different back then. I started Foot Patrol when our (VERY small) office was down the hall from the childcare center and I’m pretty sure the current office is where the pool was. Yup, a pool in the UCC. Things sure have changed. Luckily in the 8 years that I’ve been here I’ve had the opportunity to try out all of the Foot Patrol positions – from patroller to SUV driver and OM – and I’ve loved each of them!
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. The best thing about Foot Patrol by far has to be the people that you meet. I have so many friends that I met through volunteering here. There are too many good memories to pick a favourite though! I would have to say that some of my favourite things about Foot Patrol include trivia, and sharing jokes about campus with other patrollers that non-Foot Patrollers just wouldn’t understand (i.e. the creepy troll bridge and adventures down the dark road and into the ‘forest’ to visit the ‘Creepy [Statue]’). I suppose the dance groups that practise outside of the Foot Patrol office have been entertaining at times too.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. As much as I love this school, in five years I hope to be done with university. I’m sure I’ll come back to Foot Patrol to visit of course though!
Name: Denny Higgins
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. My name is Denny Higgins. I am a second year student doing an honours specialization in sociology and a major in leadership. I am a social butterfly who enjoys bringing people out of their comfort zones. I enjoy acting in musicals, performing at slam poetry events, attending raves, and partaking in activities that allow me to test my limits. When I am not on campus or out in the community, you might find me at Sears, where I am employed part-time as a janitor.
Q. How long have you volunteered for foot Patrol?
A. This is my first year volunteering for Western Foot Patrol. For the most part I have been a part of the walking team. However, I was fortunate enough to meeting an enthusiastic, well-rounded driver during a shift in the SUV and since then, have become his permanent driving partner.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. My favourite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol is the opportunity to meet new people. Western University and Foot Patrol have provided me with a unique opportunity to volunteer with individuals I might not have met if it weren't for this program. My favourite memory as a foot patroller is the night I met all the volunteers on my fixed shift. They are a group of energetic, well-rounded, sassy, and intelligible human beings who make each shift unforgettable.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. In five years I hope to be employed as a Play Therapist at Challenging Heights in Ghana. This is a rehabilitation center for children who have been rescued from child labour.

Name: Reuben Scott
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. My name is Reuben Scott. I am enrolled in the biomedical science program here at Western, so a good chunk of my time is spent at Weldon Library. In the free time I do have, I enjoy playing hockey, volleyball, soccer and basketball, and most importantly following the best team in the NHL; the Montreal Canadiens.
Q. How long have you volunteered for foot Patrol?
A. I have been volunteering for Foot Patrol for two years now, and like everyone else began as a patroller. After deciding I didn't enjoy the cold, I became an Operations Assistant and am in the process of becoming an Operations Manager.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol?
A. My favourite part about volunteering at foot patrol is definitely all the other volunteers. Many people are outgoing and for those that aren't, they find their comfort zone very quickly here at foot patrol.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. In 5 years I plan on being so wealthy that I can retire at age 26, move to an expensive southern island and of course, buy the Habs.
Name: Varun Jain
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. My name is Varun Jain. I am a 4th year student in Medical Sciences. I love to play squash, badminton and cricket.
Q. How long have you volunteered for foot Patrol?
A. I have been volunteering with foot patrol since my 2nd year. I started off as a patroller but then I applied to be a driver and have been driving for 1.5 years now.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. My favourite part of foot patrol is the amazing people I get to meet. I can't decide on a favourite memory because every shift with foot patrol is amazing.

Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. My name is Christian Hans Michael Bekking. I am a 4th year Biology student. I have 3 sisters, 2 dogs, and 1 cat. I am from Barrie Ontario. I love sports, playing the guitar and watching movies. I have been to Walt Disney World 11 times and I love it more every time I go.
Q. How long have you volunteered for foot Patrol?
A. I have volunteered with foot patrol for 3 years as a patroller.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. I love meeting new people and my favourite memory was when my partner and I were walking by Kings and we found a dog running around. It was a big black lab who was very friendly. We got to play with her for 30 minutes until her owner showed up.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. In medical school.

A. I am a second year biology student from Toronto. I love reading, photography and listening to new music.

A. I recently joined the Foot Patrol family at the beginning of this school year and I am on a walking team.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol?
A. My favourite part of shift would be meeting new people who I probably wouldn't have met if it wasn't for foot patrol.

Name: Kirstie Cockwell
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. My name is Kirstie Cockwell. I did my undergrad here at Western in Microbiology and Immunology and am now completing an accelerated masters program. I love all things dessert and anything covered in chocolate is a must. In addition to volunteering with Foot Patrol I also participate in Making Waves London, Let’s Talk Science and Learning It Together.
Q. How long have you volunteered for foot Patrol?
A. I have been with Foot Patrol for 4 years. I’ve held every position from walking volunteer and car partner to operations assistant and finally, operations manager. Each position has something special to offer.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. Foot Patrol and my birthday. My first year being a walking volunteer I was doing the C shift the night before my birthday. At midnight my walking partner gave me a flower he had picked from campus while we were walking and my OM sang happy birthday to me over the radio. Another year, my birthday was the same day as the annual banquet. I was honored with an award and while I was accepting it everyone started signing ‘Happy Birthday’. The best part about volunteering here is the people you meet and all the friendships that form. You can’t walk around campus without seeing someone you know from Foot Patrol.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. In 5 years I’d like to be done school (ha ha ha). I’ve applied to a few programs for next year, but unfortunately none at Western. I’m hoping to have travelled Europe and Asia. Maybe own a dog? Who knows!
Name: Raman Kalaichandran
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. I'm a 5th year Biology undergrad who loves music, movies, and meeting new people. I've adopted the strategy of "study hard, sleep harder". I play guitar and write music that I would never impose on the world. I also enjoy going downtown with friends, Korean barbeque, and sushi.
Q. How long have you volunteered for foot Patrol?
A. I have volunteered at foot Patrol for 4 (wow) years, starting in January of my 2nd year. After the first year of patrolling, I became an OA every other week, and this year I became a fixed OA.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol & do you have any favourite memories?
A. My favourite part of volunteering at Foot Patrol has to be the people you meet and the conversations you have with a variety of individuals who you may not interact with otherwise. Foot patrol brings people together from different backgrounds and with different personalities to serve the community. This format also bolsters social skills as you interact with different people and in different social settings depending on the shift (ie. Make-up shift vs. fixed shift). Switching shifts over the years has allowed me to meet so many friendly people. One memory that comes to mind is the first time I saw the mysterious path off of Huron, where all teams were notified of my scaredy-cat behaviour thanks to my partner.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. I hope to be involved in medicine in some capacity in 5 years, and hopefully will still be keeping in contact with the Foot patrol crew! I wouldn't be mad if I was a rock star either, but that's the back-up plan.

Name: Brooke Edwards
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. My name is Brooke and I am in fourth year biology. I love science, to the point where I might be bordering on being a nerd. I've been known to snapchat my friends lecture notes thinking its actually cool. They don't always agree. I am obsessed with tea and Netflix. Currently I am attempting to train for a half marathon, but mostly it's a ploy to keep me somewhat active throughout the winter. I have a kitten and she takes up a lot of my attention now a days.
Q. How long have you volunteered for foot Patrol?
A. I've been volunteering with foot patrol since the beginning of first year, so thats 3.5 years? Wow! Definitely one of the best things I've done in undergrad.
Q. What is your favorite part about volunteering at Foot Patrol?
A. I love getting to meet so many amazing people, it is incredible how much I have learned. I also love laughing! Every shift I always ask people to tell me if they've heard any new jokes/ have any great stories, definitely had a lot of laughs at Foot Patrol.
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. I hope to be in medical school/finishing medical school. A couple of my family members are doctors and I have had this dream since I was in grade 5, so hopefully it happens/eventually it will! I want to be running/staying active and still drinking lots of tea! Also hearing hilarious jokes from everyone I meet! Maybe I'll have a puppy in the mix at that point.
Name: Mehek Noorani
Q. Tell us about yourself.
A. My name is Mehek Noorani and I'm currently a 4th year student in Criminology at Main Campus. Fun fact, my name is actually Arabic for fragrance - how cool is that!? I am a full-time mustang, former martial artist and current foot patrol volunteer. I've got some pretty awesome things going for me I'd say.
Q. How long have you volunteered for foot Patrol?
A. Been volunteering with foot patrol for three years now - I started in first year! I absolutely LOVE foot patrol, which is probably the reason I keep coming back. The staff is just lovely, and you get to meet pretty cool people when on a shift.
Q. Do you have any favourite memories?
A. I'd say my favourite part of foot patrol was way back in first year, on my first shift, when my partner took me to the "creepy statue". Yes, that's right, there's a creepy statue on campus, and because my shift is the last one of the night, I can't not go see it! The pathway leading up to it is in itself a scene from a horror movie!
Q. Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
A. In 5 years I hope to be part of the RCMP, that is, if life doesn't throw a plot twist my way, haha.
