Research Support & Services
The Faculty of Health Sciences strives to support its network of researchers through a series of initiatives designed to encourage collaboration, stimulate emerging research and enhance grant application success. In addition to the initiatives listed below, a variety of funding opportunities and research supports are offered through Research Western.
Faculty Research Development Fund
The Faculty Research Development Fund (FRDF) is designed to strengthen research related to any Tri-Council or any other external agency. The FRDF allocates funds annually through Development Grants, Travel Grants and Collaborative/Planning Grants to support student/postdoctoral scholar training, increase publications/external funding activity and increase award activity.
FHS Tri-Council Funding Application Initiative
The FHS Tri-Council Funding Initiative supports researchers in the Faculty of Health Sciences who are submitting Tri-Council grant applications. The objective of this initiative is to increase the number of submitted Tri-Council applications and bolster success rates in Tri-Council competitions.
FHS Mid-Career Stimulus Grant
The FHS Mid-Career Stimulus Grant assists mid-career researchers in the Faculty of Health Sciences to enhance competitiveness for external research grant funding, foster a vibrant research culture and increase external funding activity.
FHS Emerging Team Grants
The FHS Emerging Team Grants assists established researchers in moving their scholarship to the next level (e.g. beyond single PI operating grants). This grant program is intended for Faculty of Health Sciences researchers with a current track record of external funding.
FHS Tri-Council Development Grant
The FHS Tri-Council Development Grant provides funds to any Faculty of Health Sciences researcher who is the PI on planned Tri-Council research grant funding application to support the preparation of the grant submission (ie. hiring a research assistant, convening a meeting of collaborators/co-applicants).
