The otolaryngologist decides to operate based on the patients history and physical / radiographic findings. Surgical management involves Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS). This usually involves removal of the uncinate process and opening of the anterior ethmoid air cells and the OMC by means of a middle meatal antrostomy.
