Efforts should be made to educate the patient about the causes, prevention, and treatment of epistaxis.  Advise your patient to stop picking at their nose and preventing drying of the nasal mucosa.  In addition, blood pressure control through lifestyle modification and pharmacological therapy can also help prevent epistaxis.  In our patient, monitoring the dosing of ASA and or changing arthritis medications may also prevent future nose bleeds.
