On Saturday, March 30, 2019, twenty-five of our Chem 4491 Honors Thesis undergraduate students, one Biochemistry student and 5 visiting undergraduate students from SooChow University (China) and Brazil participated in the 47th Southwestern Ontario Undergraduate Student Chemistry Conference (SOUSCC). This year the conference was hosted by Department of Physical and Environmental Sciences at University of Toronto-Scarborough. There were more than 150 participants with 110 oral and 40 poster presentations from over 13 universities, including Brock, Guelph, Laurentian, McMaster, Nippissing, OUIT, Queens, Toronto (all three campuses), Trent, Windsor, Waterloo, Wilfred Laurier, York, and Western.
This voluntary conference was well attended by Western Chemistry’s 4491’ers and is a contributing experience in enhancing scientific communication skills and professionalism. The event was free to our students as participation was generously supported by the Chemistry Department and the Western ChemClub. Our students were well prepared and gave exceptional presentations as documented by the impressive number of awards received:
Congratulations to all the participants!
