CCAA Trainer Certification


To become a certified to teach a CCAA leadership training course or workshop, the following criteria must be met within one year of the completion date of your course:

Train the Trainer Assignments

Complete and acheive a grade of 80% or better on 16 assignments on a variety of topics prior to the in-class portion of the Trainer course. These assignments must be submitted 2 weeks prior to the trainer course start date.

Train the Trainer In-Class

Attend the 2-day Train the Trainer course. This course covers a variety of topics related to training and educating adult learners.

Proof of Current CPR

First Aid is also recommended, but not required for trainer certification.

Co-teaching and Evaluation

Observe and practice facilitating by co-teaching a course with an experienced certified CCAA trainer within the first year of completing the Train the Trainer course.

Keep observation of lessons to a minimum throughout your co-facilitation experiance. During your apprenticeship, teach 1-2 lessons early in the course then increase to approximately half of the teaching by the end of training.

Your teaching skills will be evaluated throughout your co-facilitation experience by the trainer with whom you are leading the course.

Deliver Two Courses

You must deliver two other courses within the first year of certification and one course every year thereafter to maintain your certification. Visit the Trainer Renewal page for complete renewal requirement details.

Read and Sign the Agreement

The letter agreement (the “Agreement”) will confirm the terms and conditions of your contract with the CCAA.

Remember to download, print and sign the trainer/facilitator agreement signature page. Return one copy to the CCAA along with your certification paperwork and keep the other for your records.

Other Important Certification Information

How do I complete my certification online?

    • Login to your CCAA account
    • Click on the "Certification" tab in the account navigation bar.
    • Click the checkbox next to each of the completed certification requirements.
    • Click "Submit" once all the requirements are complete.

Please send all original certification documentation to the CCAA.

Your certified certificate will be available in your CCAA account after the paperwork is reviewed and approved by the CCAA administrator.

Can I teach all CCAA courses and workshops once I become a trainer?

No. You may only teach the CCAA course or workshop for which you became certified. Please contact the CCAA Education Coordinator for information about becoming certified to teach other CCAA courses and workshops.

How long does Trainer certification last?

The CCAA trainer certification is good for one year. Visit the Trainer Renewal page to learn more about re-certification requirements.
