Tiered Exercise Program (TEP)


About the course

This exercise program is designed for older adults who experience frailty due to diminished physical capacity. Regular participation in this simple progressive exercise program helps to promote independence and improve functional mobility, general health and mental well-being. The TEP consists of 3 tiers of strength, balance and cardiorespiratory exercises of differing intensity targeted to 3 levels of ability. Each tier is comprised of 10 simple, progressive exercises designed to improve the strength, balance, and mobility of participants. Through this training, students learn how to assign participants to tiers and progress them through the program individually or in a group setting. Course fee: $125.00 + tax.

New Tiered Exercise Program June Sessions

This course is delivered online in 2 components:

  1. Online, on-demand, self-paced modular course with learning activities (4-5 hours to complete)
  2. Group, live Zoom session (60-90 minutes and limited to 25 participants) led by a CCAA trainer, allows for further content and application clarification


  • When registering, select the preferred live session date and time
  • All live session registrants will be given access to the online course content by June 20, 2022
  • Online content and learning activities must be completed prior to the live session
  • To receive a record of completion, both the online and live course components must be successfully completed
  • A 5-6 foot long, low-to-moderate resistance exercise band (see image above) is required for this course (bands can be purchased at most dollar stores, Canadian Tire, fitness equipment suppliers, or on Amazon)
