Profile
Dr. Schmid is a professor at the Anatomy & Cell Biology Department at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. She did her PhD in Biology at the University of Tuebingen Germany, followed by a postdoc at the University Eye Hospital in Tuebingen. From 2000 on Dr. Schmid had her own research group at the University of Tuebingen and she did her habilitation in 2004. She was awarded a Heisenberg Fellowship in 2006/2007 and spend one year in the Psychology Department at University of Toronto, from where she was recruited by the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western in 2007. From 2015-2018 she was the director of the Neuroscience Graduate Program, before she became Associate Dean, Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies in 2018. From July 2020 on, Dr. Schmid takes on the role of Vice Dean, Basic Medical Sciences.
