I have been researching and teaching about the social dynamics of writing and literacy since 1993. From 2002- 2007 I developed and implemented writing-intensive learning courses from dance to inorganic chemistry and across the disciplines at Simon Fraser University. I have taught a wide range of courses in the Faculty of Education and the English Department at SFU.  My research interests include institutional ethnography, social issues in education, new rhetoric genre studies, writing studies, and the textual mediation of writers and social dynamics of texts in disciplinary communities of practice.

Additional areas of interest include socio-cultural approaches to language and writing, feminist literacy theory, ethnography and textual methodology.
