Undergraduate student Lori A. May is in her final year of studying at Western, with a major in English Literature and a minor in Creative Writing. In 2000, May completed her studies at Fanshawe College with a diploma in Liberal Arts and a certificate in Corporate Communications. Prior to entering Western as a mature student in the 2008 summer term, May was already a working writer with several publications to her credit. To date, the author has published four books including two novels, a poetry collection, and this most recent publication: The Low-Residency MFA Handbook: A Guide for Prospective Creative Writing Students (Continuum Books, 2011). May has been a visiting writer and guest faculty for Masters of Fine Arts (MFA) writing programs across the US, as well as a guest speaker at many writing conferences and festivals. She is also a part-time writing instructor at Macomb College (MI) and Fanshawe College. In addition to her books, May is a regular contributor to publications such as The Writer, Writer's Digest, and Rattle. Her poetry and short prose has been published in journals such as Phoebe (George Mason University), Two Review, Caper Literary Journal, and anthologies such as Van Gogh's Ear (French Connection Press). May also edits an online journal, The Ambassador Poetry Project, which features poetry from and about Ontario and Michigan. More information about the author is available at www.loriamay.com.
