Works In Progress
This monograph situates the socially transformative praxis of sexual minority cultures in a post-human rights framework and analytic of the politics of eros. The discussion goes to the heart of the political debates currently surrounding queer theory. I maintain that critical approaches to identity and human rights do not render queer theory anti-political, as some critics argue, although the approach is decidedly 'anti-social' in the sense that it is critical of current heteronormative social formation and aims for social transformation, rather than assimilation. Moreover, the queer and critical sexuality studies analysis asks us to define politics in a manner that does not conflict with, nor exclude eros. The project contributes to theoretical discourses, to cultural studies of sexual minorites, and to a post-human-rights political praxis.
