She is an assistant professor at the Institute of Women's Studies at the University of Ottawa. Much of her academic work investigates the relationships between bodies, borders and biometrics and she is currently at work on a book tentatively titled When Biometrics Fail: Culture, Technology, and the Business of Identity. She is also a video artist and has completed several video essays focussing on visualizing intimacy.
