Western Facts 1997
Section 2: Student
Introductory Notes and Explanations:
- Unless otherwise indicated, all enrolments are as of Nov. 1, 1996.
- Students pursuing more than one degree are counted within their major
field of study only.
- An undergraduate student is classified as part-time if registered in
less than three and a half courses.
- Graduate FTE (full-time equivalent) - a measure of graduate enrolment
where full-time students are counted as 1.0 FTE, and part-time students as
0.3 FTE.
- Enrolment totals based on geographical origin may not equate to other
totals due to missing home address/province/country information; also some
International students show only Canadian addresses.
- Students with Permanent Resident status are included under Canadian.
Format of Student Data
Unless otherwise noted, all undergraduate part-time enrolments are
expressed in Fiscal Full-Time Equivalents (FFTEs). Headcounts are
converted to FFTEs by dividing courses taken over the entire year between
May 1996 and April 1997 by the normal full-time academic load for that
program.
