OPENING RECEPTION: March 25th, 2011 – 7 pm–9 pm
Concourse Gallery John Labatt Visual Arts Centre University of Western Ontario

Clark McDougall (1921-1980) was a St Thomas-based artist known for his depictions of local rural and town landscapes. More recently, his extensive collections of ephemera, including thousands of slides, postcards, sketchbooks and diaries documenting the minutiae of his life, have come to light. In the exhibition (Re)Collecting Clark McDougall, students in the Museum Studies class at the University of Western Ontario worked with these collections, creating a massive collage in the Concourse Gallery of the John Labatt Visual Arts Building that both investigates McDougall’s career as an artist and also works with ideas of ephemerality, detail, memory and collecting.
