Dr. Adam Stead | The Medieval Church as Gesamtkunstwerk?

Dr. Stead public lecture
Please join us for a lecture by Dr. Adam Stead, SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow in Art History in the Department of Visual Arts.  Dr. Stead received his B.A. and M.A. degrees in Art History at Western and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Toronto.  He will begin his talk with an overview of the issues explored in his dissertation and the methodologies he employed.  He will then present a conference paper he is delivering this week at the annual meeting of the College Art Association in New York City in a session on "The Material Imagination: Critical Inquiry into the Performance and Display of Medieval Art."  The title of his paper is:  "The Medieval Church as Gesamtkunstwerk? Perspectives from the Church of St. Kunibert in Cologne." 
 
Presented in conjunction with Romanesque and Gothic Art class (VAH 2253E) 
taught by Prof. Kathy Brush.
