"The Candied Uncanny" is a collaborative painting exhibition by LAURA PAYNE and JENNA FAYE POWELL.
The exhibition will be on from July 13th to July 18th; The opening reception will be: Friday, July 15th, 7:00- 10:00 pm.
Admission is free, or by donation.
Laura Payne and Jenna Faye Powell both attended the University of Western Ontario for their BFA. Powell has recently completed the first year of her MFA at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Through painting, photographic, and theoretical investigation, she addresses the visual and cultural dynamics of Canadian suburbia. Payne is an MFA candidate at the Maryland Institute College of Art, starting in the fall of 2011. With a focus on portraiture, scrutiny of how graphic technologies are engaged, exploited and abused is catalyst to her practice.
Digital Alterities: 11th Annual Emerging Artists Exhibition opens June 30 @ InterAccess, Toronto. This exhibition is curated by Scott Gamble, a recent graduate and practicum student. It features Santiago Tavera, who also recently graduated and took Practicum.
