1. Statement of Financial Transactions for the Year Ended April 30, 1998 - McIntosh Estate

Recommended: That the Board approve the statement of financial transactions (Annex 1) for the year ended April 30, 1998, in respect to income received by The University of Western Ontario from the McIntosh Estate.

Expenditure during the year amounted to $7,068.82 out of a budget of $13,000.00 and the balance as of April 30, 1998, was $4,239.36. Income for 1998-99 is expected to be $8,000.00.

2. Appropriations for the Year Ending April 30, 1999

Recommended: That the Board approve appropriations from the McIntosh Estate funds for the year ending April 30,1999, as follows (details are shown in Annex 2):

I. Prizes and Scholarships

Geography $ 520.00
Business Administration $ 680.00
Public Speaking $ 660.00

II. Promotion of Music $6,637.40
Pictures $4,000.00

TOTAL $12,227.40

3. Membership

Recommended: That the terms of the following members-at-large be renewed (for one year, to October 31, 1999): Dino Bidinosti, Dalin Jameson, Jim Moscovich and Ian Tripp.


1. Chair of the Committee

Patrick Maynard was acclaimed as Chair of the McIntosh Gallery Committee. The Committee thanked David Laidler for his year of service as Chair of the Committee (1997-98).

2. Size and Value of the University Art Collection

The size and value of the University Art Collection as of December 31, 1997, is as follows:

Number of works in the Collection 2,314

Appraised value for insurance $7,090.002

A list of work acquired in 1997 is available on file in the McIntosh Gallery offices, Room 141, Talbot College.

3. Report of the Director

At the June 29, 1998, meeting, the Director presented her annual report to the Committee for its information. Copies are available on request from the McIntosh Gallery offices, Room 141, Talbot College.
