WHMIS = Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems.

Who requires WHMIS training?

  • All Western faculty, staff, graduate students, work study and co-op students and volunteers are required to complete the new version of WHMIS.

Health and safety training

  • The Occupational Health and Safety website states that “health and safety seminars are mandatory for faculty and staff and will vary according to your role within the organization”.
  • As employees of Western all TAs should discuss the Health and Safety Training requirements of their TA position with their TA supervisor.
  • Your training will vary depending on the position you have been assigned and must be completed before work may begin.

For your specific training requirements refer to the Western Safety and Wellness website.
