Course Description

Queer and Feminist Pedagogies - Christine Roulston

This course will offer an overview of the history and development of queer theory. Through an exploration of various forms of cultural production–theory, literature, visual culture–it will examine how the analysis of non-normative sexualities intersects with feminist analyses of gender, race and class. The following questions will be addressed: how do non-normative sexualities achieve representation? What is the relationship between normative and non-normative models of sexuality? In what ways does sexuality shape public and private identities?
