Course Description
9575 - Interpreting the Political Unconscious - This course will examine the tradition of Left critique in theory. Specifically, the course will consider questions of subjectivity and collectivity, ideology and representation, the logic of the social totality, and the role of the political unconscious in cultural interpretation. Selected readings from Marx, Freud, Lukács, Benjamin, Althusser, Sartre, Jameson, Spivak, Irigaray, Zizek, and others.
