Course Description
9516 - George Bataille and His Readers - This course will be divided into three section. In the first, we will look at the main sources of Bataille's thought (Kojève, Nietzsche, Hubert and Mauss, etc.). The second section will look at Bataille's major theoretical works as well as one of his literary works. In the third section, we will read a number of Bataille's most important readers (Foucualt, Derrida, Kristeva, Blanchot, etc.). This will be for the most part a seminar course.
