Course Description
9511 - 20th Century Philosophy: Philosophies of Culture - The concept of "culture" stands implicitly or explicitly at the heart of many, if not all, the social, political, and intellectual movements of the twentieth-century. This seminar seeks to develop a more refined understanding of the nature and complexity of culture through a reading of a number of different and complementary theories of culture. In particular, we will focus on the work of Ernst Cassirer, Heidegger, Foucault, Bataille, Freud and Baudrillard. Limited enrolment, offered at King's College.
