Douglas joined B+H in 1993 and was appointed Partner in 2006. He is well-renowned for his design excellence, innovative integrated approach to sustainability, research, and complex problem solving. Since joining B+H, Douglas has been instrumental in helping to build the firm’s leading and innovative approach to sustainable design.
Douglas has more than 30 years of experience in architecture and design, covering a broad range of project types. Recent projects have included the University of Windsor – Ed Lumley Centre for Engineering Innovation, Queen's University - Beamish-Munro Hall, the University of British Columbia Student Union Building, the University of New Brunswick – Hans W. Klohn Commons, the Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, Markham Stouffville Hospital, St. Joseph’s Health Centre, the Abilities Centre, venues for the Toronto 2015 Pan/Parapan American Games, First Canadian Place, Microsoft Zizhu Campus in Shanghai, and the You You Grand Sheraton International Hotel & Residences Office Tower and Retail Mall in Shanghai.
His work at Queen's University's Beamish-Munro Hall, the Metro Toronto Convention Centre's South Building and the Sheridan Centre for Animation and Emerging Technologies has been recognized with awards from the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, the Ontario Association of Architects and the Design Exchange. The You You Grand Sheraton International was featured at the World Architecture Festival 2008 in Barcelona.
