Introducing The Online Science Mentoring Program In January 2002 Alumni Western launched an exciting new program called Online Mentoring & Career Networking. This program is a career development tool for current students and alumni who seek expertise regarding careers and making connections, from those who know. It’s an opportunity for alumni to share their perspective and to allow others to benefit from the experiences of alumni in the working world.
Science students and Alumni Western are calling on our Science grads from all departments, for support. Current students are seeking professionals who graduated from the Faculty of Science as volunteer mentors. This program is online to facilitate ease of interaction between our alumni and students in the most convenient manner for both. Students and young alumni send questions to you via email so that you may respond any time of the day. We simply ask that you attempt to answer the inquiry within 48 hours. Your role as an online mentor does not require you to meet one-on-one or provide employment opportunities to students or alumni who contact you. In addition, only members of our password protected @lumni Community have access to mentor postings. What kinds of questions can you expect? Students and young alumni will ask questions from a variety of topics including networking, making the transition from school to a career, balancing home and work, growth potential for Science graduates, occupational characteristics and many more! Visit www.alumni.uwo.ca/mentoring to join the other 120 online mentors inspiring success within the Western community! Questions or comments: contact Christina Fox, Student & Young Alumni Outreach Coordinator at 1-800-258-6896 or cfox8@uwo.ca. Thank you for your continued support! |
