In Memorium: William "Bill" Judd

On October 19, 2011 William Wallace Judd Ph.D. Professor Emeritus of Zoology at Western passed away in London in his 96th year.

Prof. Judd's career at Western spanned over seven decades. The noted entomologist's name is on more than 600 publications spanning beyond insects and including topics on the environment. His book Naturalist's Guide to Ontario on the University of Toronto Press' 100 most influential books list, and his A diary of observations by W.W. Judd on the Byron Bog (Sifton Botanical Bog) at London, Ontario, 1967-1980 brought a personal note into his studies.

Although he officially retired in 1981, he remained active into into his 90's as seen in this 2007 story in the Western News.  A tree will be planted as a living memorial to William Judd.
