- Academically well-qualified 2nd or 3rd-year students who bring practical/field experience to their Internship placements
- Extended work term (8-16 months) allows students to participate in projects from beginning to end
- Interns are regarded as regular employees, taking on responsibilities far beyond the typical duties assigned to a 4-month co-op or summer student
- Upon returning to Western, Interns act as ambassadors of the sponsoring employer
- Ontario Employers who hire students in "degree-related work opportunities" are eligible for the Co-operative Education Tax Credit (CETC).
