What childcare facilities are available on campus?

On-Campus Child Care Centre

To accommodate the growing childcare needs of Western faculty members, Western opened a new on-campus childcare centre in September 2004. More information on the new University childcare facility can be found at: http://www.londony.ca/childcare/university.html

UCC Flexible Child Care, Room 40, UCC Building (519) 661-4094

Located on the UWO campus in the University Community Centre (UCC) in Room 40. Children from 18 months to 5 years are accepted and it is open Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Dr. Mary J. Wright University Laboratory Preschool

Administered by the Department of Psychology as a state-of-the-art preschool and as a research and demonstration facility. It is located on the fifth floor of Western's Social Science Centre. Programs include:

  • Parent-child program for 1 year olds and their parents
  • Toddler program for 2 year olds
  • Preschool programs for 3 year olds
  • Kindergarten for 4 and 5 year olds

My child is entering his first year of pre-school, so I need childcare after school. What programs are available to me?

I am trying to locate a preschool or nursery school for my special needs child. Where can I find this information?

Licensed childcare/early childhood education centers, preschools and nursery schools that offer inclusive programs for children with special needs can be found through the Ontario Early Years Centre. Ontario Child Years Centre can be contacted via telephone at (519) 434-3644. My partner and I would like to enjoy the odd night out. I'm new to the city and I am having problems finding a trusted babysitter. Any suggestions?

Ask for any recommendations of names for trusted babysitters from your colleagues, neighbors and friends with children. In addition to soliciting advice from friends and colleagues, you can contact the following licensed agencies for in-home and private childcare providers:

Summer break for the elementary schools is fast approaching and I'm at a loss for activities available to my children. Any suggestions?

Both Western and the City of London provide a range of activities to entertain and educate children of all ages during the summer months. Sport Western is a summer camp located on Western's campus featuring art, science and dance camps. More information on the specific campus and registration can be found n the Sport Western website: http://www.uwo.ca/campusrec/sport_western/index.htm.

The City of London also offers a wide array of activities during the summer months from summer camps to evening sports. All programs can be found in the Spectrum, which is distributed by the City of London through the London Free Press.
