Communications

The Media Relations Officer and Communications Officer work together to promote, protect and enhance the reputation of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry on campus, locally, nationally and internationally.

The Media Relations Officer promotes stories related to Schulich Medicine & Dentistry with the news media and handles incoming media inquiries. The Communications Officer is responsible for marketing, branding, publications and internal communications.

We are located in the Dean's Office and are also members of Western's Department of Communications and Public Affairs. We encourage media, faculty, students, staff and partners to contact us for assistance.

Facilities

Efficient project coordination and management and quality control of major and minor construction projects in a timely manner and within budget. This includes all stages of the project from conception through design, construction and occupancy.

Management of space utilization and allocation within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

Day to day building operations including security and access control.

Classroom bookings are now managed online using our corporate Novell system. Equipment in the classroom is managed by TTS. Please click here for information on the classrooms.

Meet the Dean


Dr. Michael Strong is Dean of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and Distinguished University Professor at The University of Western Ontario. He also holds the Arthur J. Hudson Chair in ALS Research.  He undertook his undergraduate training in biochemistry and medicine at Queens University in Kingston (1976 – 1982), neurology training at The University of Western Ontario (1982 – 1987), and postgraduate training at the Laboratory of Central Nervous System Studies (director - D. Carleton Gadjusek, Nobel Laureate) at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland under the supervision of Ralph M. Garruto, PhD (1987 - 1990).  Dr Strong is a scientist at the Robarts Research Institute, and served from 2000 to 2010 as the Chief of Neurology and Co-chair of the Department of Clinical Neurological Sciences at the London Health Sciences Centre and The University of Western Ontario. He has also served as Co-chair of the Canadian ALS Research Consortium and is a former member of the Board of Directors of the ALS Society of Canada.  Read more
