Dean's PhD Graduate Stipend and 2 Dean's MSc to PhD transfer Stipends per year.

Dean Michael Strong is pleased to announce the creation and offering of two new graduate student support programs that are intended to encourage and recognize excellence in research at the graduate level within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, at Western University

Number and Value of Stipends

There will be a maximum of 2 Dean’s PhD Graduate stipends and 2 Dean’s MSc to PhD transfer stipends per year. The Dean’s PhD Graduate stipends competition will be open to all new PhD applicants to all Schulich Medicine & Dentistry Graduate programs. The Dean’s MSc to PhD transfer award will be open to all current MSc students in Schulich Medicine & Dentistry graduate programs that have undergone a transfer to the PhD program no later than the 5th term of their graduate studies program. The recipients of both stipends will have to have an outstanding academic record and will have also demonstrated outstanding research excellence and potential. The value of The Dean’s PhD Graduate stipend will be a maximum of $25,000.00 per year for the student’s full graduate program residency period. The value of the Dean’s MSc to PhD transfer stipend will be a maximum of $5,000.00 per year for the student’s remaining full graduate program residency period.

Eligibility

You are eligible to apply for these stipends if you are currently accepted for PhD studies in one of the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry’s Graduate programs or are currently in an MSc program in one of the Schulich Medicine & Dentistry’s graduate programs but are switching to a PhD program before the end of your 5th term of study. You are not eligible if you already hold external competitive personnel awards during the tenure of the scholarship (for example: OGS, NSERC, MRC, NCIC, Genesis Foundation, Heart and Stroke, Lung Association, etc). For both stipends, students must maintain a minimum of an 80% average on all course work to be eligible for the stipend and to maintain the funding once awarded.

This competition is open only to incoming PhD students enrolled in one of the Schulich Medicine & Dentistry Graduate Programs between May 1^st and August 31^st 2012.
