Dr. Gerald Kidder


Dr. Kidder has served as Western's Associate Vice-President (Research) since August 1, 2005. (Photo - First appointed as a faculty member in 1972, Kidder has had a long and distinguished career as researcher and a teacher at the university in the Departments of Zoology and Physiology and Pharmacology, with cross appointments in Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Kidder also holds an appointment as Scientist at the Lawson Health Research Institute, and chairs the Developmental Biology Program at Lawson's Children's Health Research Institute. Kidder is one of Canada's leading developmental biologists who with two colleagues were successful in obtaining funds from the Canada Foundation for Innovation and the Ontario Innovation Trust to establish Western's Gap Junction Group, of which he remains Co-Director.

Kidder is an elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and is currently an Associate Editor of the Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology.
