Description:

The goal of C17 Research Network is to improve the treatment, care, quality of life and the outcomes of children with cancer, blood disorders, and stem cell transplants. The C17 Research Network supports research that is hypothesis driven, addresses a gap in knowledge, furthers our current understanding or explores new ideas and areas. The mandate of the C17 Research Network is to fund Canadian-led, preferentially collaborative research involving multiple pediatric oncology/hematology centres, across Canada; multi-disciplinary research; and to encourage new research collaborations.

C17 has partnered with CRS to fund up to two (2) grants in the area of pediatric oncology research at a value of $60,000/year for 2 years. For the 2015/16, C17 Research Network grant competition (Round 18), applications in the areas of pediatric basic/translational oncology research or pre-clinical developmental therapeutics (DVL) in pediatric oncology should be directed towards this competition

Application Details:

The research competition is a two stage process. Letters of Intent (LOIs) are submitted for peer review by the Research Network Committee, and will be assigned to one of three categories: approved for a full grant submission, approved as re-submission of a LOI, or not approved. Accepted LOIs are invited to submit a grant application for the next meeting deadline. Full grant submissions are reviewed by the Research Network Committee and external reviewers, and are ranked. Only the top LOIs in the fundable range will be invited to submit a full research proposal to the C17 Research Network.

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
