Grant Amount: UP TO $1.5MILLION OVER 3 YRS

Description:

Neurodegenerative diseases of aging are among the least understood and most undertreated diseases, and place a large and increasing burden on society. Addressing this challenge requires innovative approaches to accelerating treatments. Canada has a world-class neuroscience research community engaged in solving this problem. Catalyzing and supporting these researchers can help lead to meaningful, timely breakthroughs.

Proposed projects must be translational research and fall into one of these two categories to be eligible for funding: --Preclinical development of a therapeutic --Development of tools that help accelerate development of therapeutics, e.g., animal models, imaging techniques or reagents, biomarkers, diagnostics, and clinical assessment instruments

Application Details:

There are two stages to the application process: Letters of Intent ("LOIs") and Proposals. Note that the LOI stage of the application process is a significant stage of evaluation. Typically, only a small proportion of applicants are invited to submit full Proposals, and of those, many will be funded. This ensures LOIs are easy to submit and that no high potential projects are missed, and that those taking the time to write full Proposals have a very good chance of being funded.

Only researchers at or above the level of Assistant Professor or equivalent are eligible to apply as the Principal Investigator (PI). Collaborators must be at the post-doctoral level or above. APPLY NOW AT *** https://weston.smartsimple.ca/welcome/neuroscience ***

INDIRECT COSTS DO NOT APPLY

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
