Description:

Brain Canada, the Banner Alzheimer's Foundation, Novartis and industry, wish to support excellent translational research in the area of Alzheimer's disease prevention through the efforts of Canadian teams of scientists. The ultimate goal of the initiative is to encourage Canadian researchers to perform one or more value-added MIRI research project(s) that takes advantage of the APOE4 trial resources and population to answer significant research question(s) related to Alzheimer disease and associated disorders.

Projects should focus on understanding, prevention or treatment of Alzheimer disease and related disorders. Teams must be multidisciplinary, and their members may be based in one or several research institutions. The team must include the range of expertise and experience required to carry out the APOE4 trial and the proposed research project.

Application Details: To encourage imaginative proposals from the widest range of multidisciplinary teams, this application process begins with submission of a simple letter of intent (LOI) that will be reviewed by an international expert panel, to identify those projects that are well-aligned with the subject area of this competition, and that focus on innovative ideas with high potential impact.All LOIs must be submitted using Brain Canada?s electronic grant management system.
NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
