Description:

Brain Canada is dedicated to promoting and funding research collaboration on a national scale. Recognizing that neurological and / or psychiatric disease is one of the three major health afflictions of Canadians, along with cancer and cardiovascular disease, Brain Canada seeks to bring private philanthropy together with public funds in support of major research advances to address neurological disorders in all their forms. The partnership leverages all donated dollars via partnerships.

Brain Canada is partnering in a joint-funding initiative with the Huntington Society of Canada that aims to create Huntington disease (HD) Clinician-Scientist-to-Patient Virtual Networks: inter-connected clinicians, researchers, and HD patients. The intent is to ensure ongoing collaborations focused on expediting the discovery-to-effective-treatment cycle in humans in order to slow or prevent HD and other relevant neurodegenerative diseases.

Application Details: This competition is open to teams of two or more investigators in any scientific discipline who are working at Canadian institutions. The teams must include at minimum a research scientist and a clinician who must be eligible to apply for research grants from the Canadian federal granting agencies (CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC) and who have the experience and expertise required to create a multi-disciplinary HD Clinician-Scientist-to-Patient Virtual Network team. All full applications must be submitted using Brain Canada?s electronic grant management system (https://braincanada.smartsimple.ca/s_Login.jsp). The Team Leader must sign on to the Brain Canada electronic grant application submission portal before 16.00 EST February 26, 2016 to complete all application fields.BRAIN CANADA DOES NOT PROVIDE INDIRECT COSTS
NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
