Description:

The Azrieli Foundation in partnership with Brain Canada will support excellent systems or translational research in the area of neurodevelopmental disorders, with a special focus on ASD and Fragile X syndrome. The ultimate goal of the initiative is to develop new diagnostics, treatment and prevention strategies for neurodevelopmental disorders, to reduce their economic and social burden on Canadians, and to improve the quality of life for those affected by neurodevelopmental disorders and their families.

Proposals relevant ASD or Fragile X Syndrome are especially encouraged. Further details of the process will be provided to those invited to submit full applications. These will be up to 11 pages in length including an outline budget, and will be accompanied by a full CV for team members. The criteria for assessment will be essentially the same as for the LOI, but may be modified or weighted on the basis of experience gained during review of the LOIs.

Application Details:

The Partners will support Canadian teams, or the Canadian components of international teams, proposing a collaborative research project in the area of neurodevelopmental disorders, with specific focus on systems and/or translational approaches. The competition is open to Canadian investigators who are eligible to apply for Tri-Counil research grants. The teams must be must be multidisciplinary and inclusion of international collaborators is encouraged.

Brain Canada will operate the competition on behalf of both Partners. Full applications must be submitted using Brain Canada?s electronic grant management system before 16:00 EST on June 19, 2015.

MIRI GRANTS DO NOT PROVIDE INSTITUTIONAL OVERHEAD

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
