Internal: Feb 23, 2012
Sponsor's: Mar 01, 2012

Subject Areas: Leukemia, Lymphoma, myeloma
Description:

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) funds new and innovative research that shows high promise for translating basic biomedical knowledge to clinical application. The goal of translational research is to reduce the time between laboratory findings and actual treatment.

LOIs are reviewed and approved by LLS at the time of submission. Once the LOI has been approved, the Full Application will be available to the Applicant (Principal Investigator) on proposalCentral for submission by March 15th.

Application Details:

Applications are sought proposing novel approaches to the prevention, diagnosis or treatment of leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma. Proposals should be based on molecular, cellular or integrated systems findings and be conceptually innovative. The application should have a clear plan for the clinical exploitation of the studies proposed and the results expected. This feature of the proposal will be an important consideration of the review process. While work directed at a further elucidation and understanding of the fundamental cellular and molecular biology of neoplastic lymphohematopoietic cells is a research priority of LLS, the Translational Research Program is specifically intended for the support of work which is clearly clinical in orientation. Applicants (Principal Investigator) must hold an M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree, and work in domestic or foreign non-profit organizations, such as universities, colleges, hospitals or laboratories. Applicants need not be U.S. citizens.

Before you submit your letter of intent and application, download and read TRP Guidelines & Instructions for New Letter of Intent & Full Application (revised as of November 2010) on the LLS website. Before you apply, log in to proposalCENTRAL and register. Grants and contract officials must also register your institution.

INDIRECT COSTS OF $20,000 MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
