Sponsor/Award: UNITING AGAINST LUNG CANCER - LEGACY PROGRAM FOR ADVANCES IN LUNG CANCER RESEARCH - 2011 SUMMER COMPETITION

Grant Amount: $100K FOR TWO YEARS
Deadline: Dean's: Contact your Faculty Research Office for deadline details.
Internal: Aug 10, 2011
Sponsor's: Aug 17, 2011

Subject Areas: Lung Cancer
Description:

This funding is intended primarily as seed money for promising and potentially transformative new projects, rather than funding well-developed clinical projects that already receive considerable support.

Proposals should be focused on translational science, and use clinically relevant biospecimens when possible. Studies incorporating predictive biomarkers of response or resistance to therapy are also of interest. Applicants leveraging pre-existing data-sets, clinical samples, etc. are strongly encouraged to demonstrate direct and immediate access. Mechanistic studies are greatly aided by an argument for how greater understanding of mechanism is relevant to translational efforts.

Application Details:

In 2011, we are prioritizing innovative, high risk/high reward research. We aim to jumpstart new projects leading to improved treatments and a cure for lung cancer, including non-small cell and small cell lung cancer. Proposals do not require large amounts of preliminary data, but must have a clear hypothesis and research plan to be completed wit hin the two year grant term.

Our grant application and instructions can be accessed from our website or through the Foundant grant submission system (https://www.grantinterface.com/UALC/Common/LogOn.aspx). Please note that applications for 2011 must be submitted online by 11:59 PM EST, August 17, 2011. Late applications will not be accepted. Mailed applications will not be accepted; all applications must be submitted online

INDIRECT COSTS OF 10% MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE PROJECT BUDGET

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
