Description:

he WCB is now accepting applications for funding under the Research and Workplace Innovation Program. Qualified applicants should submit proposals for either scientific research on workplace injury, illness and disease or innovative, practical solutions to improve workplace health and safety and early and safe return to work.

Applicants interested in requesting funding under the scientific research stream are required to submit an application using the format provided on the WCB website. Applicants must take note that the WCB requires a Notice of Intent from the applicant prior to submitting the complete application. Applicants interested in requesting funding under the Workplace Innovation stream are required to submit an application using the application format provided on the WCB website for this program.

Application Details:

The RWIP makes available $1 million each year through two streams of funding: workplace-based innovation projects that lead to improvements in workplace health and safety, and foster successful rehabilitation and productive and safe return to meaningful work, and high quality scientific research on significant issues related to workers compensation. In general, each project may be a maximum of two years in duration for a maximum $100,000 for each year.

The WCB will not consider scientific research proposals unless a Notice of Intent had been submitted. Applicants are expected to use either the application for scientific research or the application for workplace innovation based on the subject matter and focus of their submission. An applicant is permitted to apply at the same time for both scientific research funding and workplace innovation project funding.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission.
