Description: |
The Early Researcher Award program (ERA) helps promising, recently-appointed Ontario researchers build their research teams of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, research assistants and associates. Each award to a leading researcher is a maximum of $100,000 and must be matched by an additional $50,000 from the researcher's institution and/or a private sector partner. The goal of the program is to improve Ontario's ability to attract and retain the best and brightest research talent. Researchers must be no more than 5 years from having started their independent academic research career, as of July 1, 2018. Tier 1 Canada Research Chairs are not eligible to apply for an ERA. |

Application Details: |
A NOI must be submitted. The NOI that is is not binding and will not be assessed by the Ministry but it is a mandatory part of the application process. The Ministry of Research and Innovation (the Ministry) generally defines independent academic research appointment as a position where a researcher from an eligible institution is capable of independently publishing, supervising, and applying for funding. For internal information, when completing the ROLA Proposal, please enter the funding request in just one budget period. RDS will adjust the project dates should your application be successful.

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission. |
