Description: |
The Early Researcher Award program (ERA) helps promising, recently-appointed Ontario researchers build their research teams of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, research assistants and associates. Each award to a leading researcher is a maximum of $100,000 and must be matched by an additional $50,000 from the researcher?s institution and/or a private sector partner. The goal of the program is to improve Ontario's ability to attract and retain the best and brightest research talent. Researchers must be no more than 5 years from having started their independent academic research career, as of July 1, 2011. Each award to a leading researcher is a maximum of $100,000 and must be matched by an additional $50,000 from the researcher's institution and/or a partner organization. |

Application Details: |
A NOI must be submitted. The NOI that is is not binding and will not be assessed by the Ministry but it is a mandatory part of the application process. The Ministry of Research and Innovation (the Ministry) generally defines independent academic research appointment as a position where a researcher from an eligible institution is capable of independently publishing, supervising, and applying for funding. Letters are due November 4, 2011 to RDS. Complete application packages must be received by the Ministry or post-marked on, or before 4 pm Monday, November 14, 2011. All submitted material (paper copies and electronic copies) must be assembled in the order detailed in the Sponsor guidelines.INDIRECT COSTS OF $40,000 MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET |

NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. A ROLA Proposal (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean electronic approvals) is required for each submission. |
