Description: |
The Early Researcher Award program (ERA) helps promising, recently-appointed Ontario researchers build their research teams of graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, research assistants and associates. Each award to a leading researcher is a maximum of $100,000 and must be matched by an additional $50,000 from the researcher?s institution and/or a private sector partner. The goal of the program is to improve Ontario's ability to attract and retain the best and brightest research talent. Researchers must be no more than 5 years from having started their independent academic research career, as of July 1, 2010. ?Each award to a leading researcher is a maximum of $100,000 and must be matched by an additional $50,000 from the researcher?s institution and/or a partner organization. |

Application Details: |
A NOI must be submitted. The NOI that is is not binding and will not be assessed by the Ministry but it is a mandatory part of the application process. The Ministry of Research and Innovation (the Ministry) generally defines independent academic research appointment as a position where a researcher from an eligible institution is capable of independently publishing, supervising, and applying for funding. First Draft is due at RDS: 13 August 2010. Letter Deadline is Due: 7 September 2010. Final Proposal is Due: 13 September 2010. All submitted material (paper copies and electronic copies) must be assembled in the order detailed in the Guidelines. Please assemble the complete electronic PDF file into one document. Accompanying the ERA application package, provide three original signed letters of reference in sealed and signed envelopes. The letters should address the Round 7 ERA Evaluation Criteria: Excellence of the Researcher, Quality of the Research, Development of Research Talent, and Strategic Value for Ontario).INDIRECT COSTS OF $40,000 MUST BE INCLUDED IN THE BUDGET |

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline. |
