Description:

The Agricultural Adaptation Council (AAC) is issuing a call for proposals for the Greenhouse Renewable Energy Technologies (GRET) R&D Initiative. The $1 million initiative will support innovative research and development projects that focus on renewable energy technologies for the Ontario greenhouse sector. The projects results should benefit commercial greenhouse businesses that grow or propagate vegetables, fruit, floriculture and culinary herbs. The objective of this initiative is to test renewable energy technologies with a potential for future integration into greenhouse production in Ontario and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the sector. The initiative will also identify and evaluate technologies for feasibility within a greenhouse production system, promoting innovation to develop more clean-technology processes and products

GRET funding requests between $250,000 to $400,000 for pilot-scale demonstration projects and $50,000 to $100,000 for feasibility studies are encouraged. Higher levels of funding may be provided when projects involve partnerships of two or more organizations and result in significant benefits back to the greenhouse sector in Ontario;

Application Details: Projects will be funded under two different categories: Undertake a pilot-scale demonstration project of a renewable energy technology with potential for future integration into greenhouse operations across Ontario and greenhouse gas reductions; or Undertake a study to assess the feasibility of using a renewable energy technology within a greenhouse production system (i.e. fulfills greenhouse energy needs), promoting innovation to develop more clean-technology processes and productsSee sponsor's website for full details. Application and required documents and signatures must be submitted to info@adaptcouncil.org by 4:30pm on the deadline day (July 13, 2017)
NOTE: All Letters of Intent and Full Applications must be processed through Research Development & Services for institutional approval. Requests for Institutional approvals should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
