Description:

Parkinson Society Canada is pleased to offer the Pilot Project Program as part of its strategic initiative to encourage investigators (researchers) with faculty or equivalent appointments, to enter and perform research in new, specifically targeted, high priority areas of Parkinson's research in Canada. The intent of the program is to provide funds to acquire preliminary data leading to development of larger projects eligible for funding from a major granting agency. Funds awarded under the Program are to be used to cover operating expenses, technical support staff salaries and equipment costs for research grants in Parkinson's-related areas.

Through this initiative, PSC invites fellowship applications from applicants committed to conducting biomedical research in areas relevant to the cure, cause, prevention, improved treatment and/or understanding of Parkinson's disease, related disorders including: Multiple System Atrophy (MSA), Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) other Parkinson's conditions and the impact these diseases have on society. This initiative is consistent with, and reflects, PSC's commitment to support innovation and renewal in the national Parkinson's research field and to foster international leadership potential in this area. The Program is available to individuals who propose to conduct research on the biomedical, clinical, health services and systems and population areas of Parkinson's.

Application Details:

The Program offers awards in the amount of up to $45,000, over a one-year term, to exceptional eligible applicants who have been approved for funding by the Advisory Board. The applicant must be a researcher who has completed formal training in health-related research. Applicants must have some form of research appointment with an Approved Institution, typically, an employment relationship with such institution or organization.

Applications are submitted digitally through the Parkinson Society Canada online program located on the PSC website. Applicants can go to https://parkinson.sslpowered.com/parkinson.ca/research/rhtml/IndexEN.php to register and complete an application form. Applications submitted through the online system can be submitted without signatures. However, following the online submission, the applicant must forward one original copy with all required signatures by February 2, 2011 to: Ivy Lim-Carter | Director, National Research & Clinical Programs

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT SUPPORTED BY THIS PROGRAM.

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
