Sponsor/Award: ONTARIO GENOMICS INSTITUTE - SPARK PROGRAM - TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT - 2011 SUMMER COMPETITION

Grant Amount: UP TO $50K FOR ONE YEAR
Deadline: Dean's: Contact your Faculty Research Office for deadline details.
Internal: Jun 08, 2011
Sponsor's: Jun 15, 2011

Subject Areas: Genomics
Description:

With the SPARK program, the Ontario Genomics Institute (OGI) seeks to provide catalytic funding for high-impact, high-risk and/or early-stage technology development in genomics sciences. OGI will provide individual awards of up to $50,000 to be used for short duration (6-12 months) research projects performed in Ontario (at academic, industry or other institutions). Awarded projects will be focused on discrete, unique and transformative technology development relevant to genomics, with outcomes enabling follow-on investment for further research or development.

Project proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria: Relevance of research focus to Genomic Sciences and the specific technology development focus of the program as described above; The novelty and ingenuity of the research; The potential for the proposed research to be transformative for Genomic Sciences; The impact and/or utility of the project to a large receptor community; The likelihood of the proposed research to result in the desired outcome(s); The ability of the proposed work to strengthen Ontario?s position as a global leader in Genomic Sciences.

Application Details:

The overall goal of the SPARK program is to catalyze new research directions and increase the competitiveness of Ontario researchers. The ideal proposal will focus on developing technologies that create new capabilities or scientific resources. These could include instrumentation, software, experimental approaches or reagents that are of broad interest to the research community and/or that address major hurdles for Genomic Sciences.

Applicants for the SPARK program must use the supplied application template. Applications must be submitted electronically to KFiebig@OntarioGenomics.ca no later than 5 pm on Wednesday, June 15th, 2011.

INDIRECT COSTS ARE NOT LEVIED ON THIS PROGRAM

NOTE: Letters of Intent and Full Applications are to be processed through Research Development Services for institutional signatures, and are to be accompanied by a completed RDAF form (bearing applicant, Chair and Dean signatures). Requests for Institutional signatures should be received no less than 3 days prior to the posted Sponsor deadline.
